So buying a vehicle would require you to visit their offices to comply with the legal requirements. One of these is a DMV registration NY and title you need to have as soon as possible. Here are some basic tips you need to know to avoid trouble with this government agency.

Acquire a title in every vehicle you purchased particularly those that are not brand new ones. It would be hard acquiring from the department a regular title if the seller did not give their title. It is also possible that the title is possessed by the person or entity the seller made a loan to when they bought the vehicle and will not be released until the loan is paid.

Changes made to your address when moving out to another location must be reported within thirty days as the law has provided you. This allows you to continue receiving important notifications such as registration reminders for renewal from the DMV and other notices. Not doing so would not let you receive these important notifications that can result in you being fined for something you do not know.

File a release of liability when you transfer the ownership of the vehicle or sell it because this is required by law. License plates should be kept by you when selling your car unless it is a restricted one have the colors black and white on it where you are not allowed to remove it. Your plates can be put on a new one you would acquire and buying another plate is unnecessary.

Bring proper identification cards when visiting the DMV for registration which has your full name and an identifying number. If there is a second owner appearing on the document, bring their license number and identification card number. You can request for a duplicate title if the original one has been lost, illegible or mutilated which makes it void. If the original one has been found then destroy it and continue using the duplicate. If the same things happen to the duplicate then you need to apply for another one as a replacement.
