Some Of The Problems With Oversize Load Hauling Vehicles And How They Can Be Rectified

By Christopher Rogers

Many are times people have lost people they love to road accidents. This, as much as we have no control over it, there are ways in which we can minimize the damage. Apart from bad weather bad roads, reckless behavior and other things, mere neglect is a major cause of accidents. Below are some of the problems with oversize load hauling and how they can be prevented.

One of the mistakes with this trucks is equipment failure. This is when some or most of the vehicle parts are not in good for the condition. This equipment could be of any kind. Every part has a purpose, and when broken it could cause a lot of danger to both the driver and the pedestrians or other motorists. The equipment includes things like defective lights, no reverse detection device among many others.

In such a case ensure before the truck leaves you have done a thorough check on all of the equipment. If necessary, bring along a checklist to confirm you have checked on everything. It is also good if you have a technical team on standby. This way, they will always ensure everything is working correctly before the truck leaves, and immediately it arrives.

Loading the truck, the wrong way may also come back and bite you in future. Therefore, take the time to look at how the lorry has been loaded. Ensure the weight is evenly distributed. Even weight distribution helps avoid disasters such as the lorry tipping over and causing accidents. Also, ensure you take caution if you are transporting something that can be carried by the wind.

The best solution in such a case is to supervise the loading. You will be able to direct the people on how to arrange it so that the weight is distributed equally. With time they learn, and supervision will not be necessary. You should also check to ensure the lorry is not overloaded as such may be a problem especially when It is time to climb.

The driver might be the problem. At times, everything is okay with the lorry, but the accident still occurs because of the driver. This is especially when they are tired. They might have been on the road for too long, and they are bound to get tired. It is a little wonder to see a driver falling asleep at the wheel causing the truck to move uncontrollably all over the road.

Sometimes the weather is the problem. It may start to snow, and then a lot of fog will appear. Seeing ahead will be next to impossible. Rain may also destroy the roads that are to be used by making them extra slippery. This could cause loss of control, and the lorry may run over small vehicles and innocent bystanders.

Make sure that your drivers are well rested. Have a login system installed, so their time is calculated. This will tell them when to stop hence avoiding fatigue. Always be on the lookout for a change in weather. This will keep you in the know, and you can prevent trucks from heading out if the conditions will be unsuitable for them.
