You being not allowed to drive anymore is a small punishment. To be honest, it is not enough of a punishment for you. You deserve a lot worse.
The master does not do anything about it, besides scolding them in the aftermath because he has to pay for all the damages. Or worse, also joins into the fray. Because as much as we would like to think that he is a responsible old man, he still raised these children and they grew up to be like this mostly because of him.
Whatever your reason are, it does not matter anymore. Work on making sure that kid gets back up. Do you not think that it is the least you could do? Seeing that no one is ever going to let you live this down, stop being a selfish and reckless bastard and do what is right.
You are fortunate she took this to court. Her father had half the mind to go straight to where you live and beat the ever loving pants out of you. We would have paid extra money to see that happen though.
