Nearly all cars will have a sound system which allows the driver and passengers to listen to music inside the vehicle. The majority of car manufacturers will fit a simple audio unit to vehicles when they are made. Many drivers choose to buy an improved system and will need professional car stereo installation and some homework is required beforehand.

The range of car audio systems on the market it huge and each one will have different modes and functions. The majority will have a built in radio receiver as well as the usual CD player and many will have other ports for connecting external devices. Most cars will have two speakers in the front, and two in the rear, unless extra ones are fitted.

When you have purchased a unit for your car it will need fitting and there are a couple of options available. All systems will come with full fitting instructions and if you have some basic knowledge you can install it yourself. The fitter will install the head unit, speakers and amps in tidy manner so that no cables are visible. When you do have large amps and speakers fitted they are normally in the trunk which means you may lose some capacity there.

When everything has been installed, the fitters will carry out a comprehensive test on the system, to ensure that everything is operational. Fitting will usually be covered by a warranty and you will be given some paperwork with your bill which you should retain. If you have any problems or faults with your new audio unit after fitting, you should go back to the installers, and get then to fix the problem.

It is worth keeping your old stereo after getting a new one fitted into your car. The old unit can be put back into the vehicle if you decide to sell it or trade it in future. It is essential to keep your car secure when you have an expensive audio system fitted as they are a target for thieves so security is important.
